Database Administrator

AHI Software, Inc., a fast growing software service provider for the healthcare industry is seeking an energetic and professional individual for a full-time position as a highly skilled Database Administrator to coordinate changes to our computer database and to test and implement our database management system for our healthcare industry-leading software. The successful candidate must be smart, a self-starter, task/detail/accuracy oriented, be able to multi-task, be a team player and have strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as showcase expert SQL skills. Position will be based in our Miami Lakes, FL office. No telecommuting.

Responsibilities:

Acting independently, or as part of the development team, tests programs or databases, corrects errors and makes necessary modifications.
Modifies existing databases and database management systems.
Plans, coordinates and implements security measures to safeguard information in computer files against accidental or unauthorized damage, modification or disclosure.
Coordinates database development and determines project scope and limitations.
Writes and codes logical and physical database descriptions and specifies identifiers of database to management system or directs others in coding descriptions.
Specifies users and user access levels for each segment of database.
Approves, schedules, plans, and supervises the installation and testing of new products and improvements to computer systems such as the installation of new databases.
Reviews project requests describing database user needs to estimate time and cost required to accomplish project.
Develops standards and guidelines to guide the use and acquisition of software and to protect vulnerable information.
All other duties as assigned

Requirements:

Bachelor Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related technical field desired
Minimum of 4-5 years progressively responsible DBA experience required; may consider certifications as substitute for education and/or professional experience
Expert skills in Microsoft SQL; experience in web development/ applications desirable
Familiarity with database encryption
Experience in data warehouse/ large database implementations
Strong performance monitoring and tuning skill set
Ability to improve query performance, analyze complex processes and programs, understand business processes, and be customer focused
Ability to adapt and react effectively to changing priorities, often on daily basis
Solid work history and excellent professional references are required
